Agency Worker software - the journey begins
The agency workers directive has now been enacted. We know the government doesn't intend to make any changes but we do not know the implementation detail as the advisory notes have yet to be issued.
The count down clock to the 1 October now seems to be ticking that bit faster and we believe it would be stupid to further delay plans to look at systems that need to be put in place.
We have therefore started to look at alternative systems that might be of interest to our readers.
Our insights will only be available to people that have registered on this site so if you have not already done so why not register now.
Indeed please let us know how you intend to cope with the new regulations especially if you operate a multi site operation in different locations in the UK as this will be the most challenging of complexes to manage.
When looking at solutions are you also considering the impact of other legislation that is being forced on companies? The implications of the Equality Act, the need to be able to show due diligence in identifying workers?
Then the minefield of "comparator jobs" and the pressure to have distinctive job descriptions in place that will allow you to determine pay grades and the applicability of higher rates of pay etc after 12 weeks of continuous working.
It is a jungle out there and selection of the right software will be critical to avoid simple mistakes being made.
We are embarking on a journey to find the best software that can be used to ensure compliance with the agency worker directive.
Please feel free to join us. If you are a software provider why not pick up the gauntlet and tell us why we should look at your software.
Lastly , I'll let you into a little secret - the solution is not available at present and won't be until the compliance notes are issued - so we are looking for the best solution currently out there that will need to be tweaked in due course.
